The Seattle Trade Development Alliance hosted a presentation on “Turkey – A Growing Economy” by Zafer Çağlayan, the Minister of Economy for Turkey. This high-level meeting of stakeholders from Seattle and Turkey offered increased opportunities to develop economic and cultural ties. Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen delivered the welcoming remarks. A.C.E. President David Woodward spoke with Minister Çağlayan to promote cross-cultural and linguistic exchanges between Turkey and the U.S.
A.C.E. is expanding opportunities for Turkish students to build English language fluency through individual and group programs at the A.C.E. Language Institutes. In April 2011, President Woodward visited Istanbul and participated in a panel presentation at Istanbul University with three A.C.E. alumni. A.C.E. Instructor Cindy Herter will be relocating to Istanbul in September. In late October 2011, A.C.E. Global Advisor Colin Davies will visit Istanbul again to continue building these cross-cultural connections. A.C.E. welcomes opportunities to work with other colleagues interested in expanding outreach to Turkey.
